St. Louis Mayor Tishaura Jones held a briefing after Board of Aldermen President Lewis Reed resigned after he was charged with accepting bribes.

“I believe that those closest to the problems are also those closest to the solutions,” said Mayor Jones. “The members of this advisory board will be tasked with collaborating, bringing together its resources, and helping my administration stay laser-focused on the issues directly affecting the LGBTQIA+ community, and to pursue meaningful policy changes.”

“For far too long, gun lobby backed members of the U.S. Senate have sat idly by while 110 people in this country are shot and killed, and twice that are shot and wounded, every single day – in acts of domestic violence, shootings on the streets of our cities, and in heartbreaking mass shootings in supermarkets and elementary schools. No more. The U.S. Senate has a moral obligation to take action on gun safety. Failure to do so is an abdication of their most basic responsibility: to keep us safe.”

St. Louis Mayor Tishaura Jones is living up to her promise of returning the recycling program this month. It restarts on May 31.
