Mayor Tishaura Jones and the Veterans Community project break ground to open the tiny home project in St. Louis

To commemorate Veterans Day this year, Mayor Jones was proud to stand with the Veterans Community Project to officially open the tiny home project for veterans in St. Louis. The first phase of the project opened 20 tiny homes, including 10 family units, alongside a veterans’ outreach center.

“This is just one way the City is using American Rescue Plan funds to invest in long-term solutions that get people into permanent supportive housing and off the streets,” said Mayor Tishaura Jones. (via KSDK)

This worthwhile development in the Jeff Vander Lou neighborhood is a welcome addition to the redevelopment of North St. Louis and our continued commitment to invest in and support our unhoused neighbors.

Our veterans deserve the support they need to thrive and pursue the American Dream. Mayor Jones has pledged that those who served this country and defended our freedoms and rights will always have a warm and welcome place to call home in St. Louis.

There is much more that can and should be done for those who served our country, especially veterans experiencing homelessness. The entire Mayor Jones Administration is committed to ensuring city government is a reliable partner for our veterans and the advocates working to make life better for veterans. Step by step, we’ll work to close the gaps in our social safety net and invest in long-term solutions that get people into permanent supportive housing and off the streets.

Thank you for supporting this vision for a more equitable, more prosperous St. Louis.

And thank you to all who have served this country. We owe you a heavy debt of gratitude.
